2. What is your favorite city to travel to and why?
So many great places. Tokyo's my favorite. I lived there before Rockapella. It's almost like a second home, many friends. Japanese culture is fascinating, new and ancient.
3. What’s your favorite song to perform?
Probably whatever's newest.
4. What is special about Rockapella fans?
Dedication, unassuming friendliness, genuine enthusiasm and ravishing beauty.
5. What are you looking forward to in 2007?
Completing puberty.
6. How do feel that Rockapella brings the energy and sound of a full band to an a capella performance?
Powerbars for the energy; Jeff Thacher noises for the sound.
7. Do you play any instruments (besides voice)?
Piano, guitar, triangle.
8. Who were your favorite singers growing up and are those favorites different today? How did they influence your singing style?
Stevie Wonder's been my favorite since I was little. Discovered Mel Torme in college. Keeping Stevie in mind probably helped me keep some pop R&B style alive through the legit, voice degree years.
9. What does Rockapella's creative process consist of? How do you approach a song with regards to arrangement, delivery, etc.
With such a substantial foundation built for Rockapella, it's nice to be able to let ideas come and go, and let those that could really add something blossom and develop. Probably the longer I can let something fester in my brain, the better. Then I can set in and take the time with the actual process of an arrangement, and try to keep it as special as I thought the initial inspiration was.
10. We understand you went to Tampa University on a baseball scholarship. What made you give up baseball for singing?
Lack of talent. I don't think I ever thought I'd really make a career of baseball. Of course I don't think I really thought I'd ever be singing for a living either. I don't know how I got here. Is this a career? I gotta get a job.
