The past two weeks have been a complete blur. Within two weeks, we did 11 shows, with only one day at home. Rather than try to remember every detail of every day, I figured I would do a nice little wrap up.
It all started November 29th in NYC. Because my hotel room wasn’t ready when I arrived, I explored the city a little. Apparently, they light some huge tree in Rockapella Center every holiday season. Before the deluge of emails, I know. It’s Rockefeller Center, and the tree is famous. I didn’t get a glimpse of my celebrity crush (Sarah McLachlan), but I did get to hear Sting warm up for his TV performance that night. So, if you’re playing Seven Degrees of Rockapella with your friends and Sting comes up, there you go.
Speaking of celebrities, we did see a former boy band legend. We were in the Chicago O’Hare airport last week and saw JC Chasez, formerly of *NSYNC. It was actually amazing. Five years ago, the guy couldn’t leave his house without getting mobbed. At the airport last week, nothing. No ruckus, no flashbulbs, no screaming, no autographs. He’s just a normal guy again.
Thanksgiving was spent on the road. Fred and Jeff went back to Manhattan (we were in Long Island). Kevin, John, and I went with George to his boyhood home in Philly. His family made what may be the best Thanksgiving meal I have ever had.
This tour also saw the death of my beloved merch-bag-on-wheels. It was only two months old, but apparently wasn’t built to hold hundreds of CDs. But that was nothing compared to John’s suitcase. When we landed in Madison, WI, one entire side of his suitcase had pretty much been ripped out. That goes beyond the realm of “normal wear and tear.”
And I can’t forget to mention my lunchtime meal in Cupertino, CA. This was a great mall, with awesome stores, and a sushi bar. Not once in my life had I even touched sushi. Jeff, knowing about all things Japanese, was my guide. After $40 worth of tuna, salmon, shrimp, seaweed, and rice, my sushi experience was complete. And no, it doesn’t taste fishy. Most of the time.
Big thanks to all fans who brought gifts to the guys, as well as Fred and me. You’re the best!
Only a few more shows left in 2006. Then, we sleep.
Until next time…
