Part 2: Return to Singapore.

A glimpse of lovely Singapore
After our November 2006 adventure in friendly, clean, orderly, kinda uptight-but-nice Singapore, we were looking forward to coming back. It was much the same - lots of greenery (much closer to the equator), a beautiful spaceship-like performance venue, and delicious local food after the show.

Taking their performance to new heights
This time it was raining a bit, but during a break in the clouds I headed out to the pool in the November heat. 30 minutes later, sunburned. Always remember kids - closer to the equator = SPF40 rubbed all over. No exceptions!
Next was the epic flying portion of our trip....Fred, Kevin, and myself elected an 18-hour direct homeward flight from Singapore to Newark airport. Everybody else took a different route. And you thought 12 hours to Tokyo all those years was bad... Fortunately the entire Asian tour was booked on Singapore Airlines...the highest rated airline in the entire world. As long as you sleep, you can make it through...
And I can't say enough about Singapore airlines... though we fly coach, they have a massive film and tv library accessible via a big screen on the back of the seat in front of you that would make JetBlue blush. Clean bathrooms with small design touches normally seen only in business class on other airlines. A touch more leg room than we're use to. Soft-spoken groomed flight attendants whizzing by at all hours with a smile on their faces. Some of the grouchy frumpy union-embittered ones on some US airlines could learn a lot from that. It's the little things that matter. Especially on 12-18 hour flights!
After our arrival on the same date due to the massive time zone change, Kevin split for Florida, and Fred and I headed home. We had two quick days ahead of laundry and sleepy home-time before we had to head off to Europe. I fell asleep in the middle of "Bee Movie" at the 34th Street AMC and was mercilessly teased for it by friends. They just don't understand global travel hazards.

Wouldn't you love to take Scott's hand?
